Pleased to announce a panel discussion at
Cullom Gallery in Seattle Sunday, April 21st, at 2 pm, with Shannon Durbin,
Vaughn Bell, and Mugi Takei. Drawing on themes in Durbin's gouache
drawings of forest fires that are on view at Cullom Gallery through
April 27th, these three Northwest artists will introduce us to the
place that nature and the environment inform their art making. With
questions posed by one another and special panel moderators, the
conversation will also touch on contemporary perceptions of the
environment - a blurry mix of personal memories, historic
representations of nature, and an uneasy awareness of the gathering
facts that quantify the earth's degradation - and what this all means
for future representation of nature in the visual arts. Join us on
Sunday the 21st, at 2 pm for this free event.
